Former Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
