Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the US has remained silent.
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
