Jurgen Klopp states a return to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club is something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the Premier League in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the notion that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he explained to his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead any other side in England. So that means should it be the Reds...yes. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests the choice could be mine later on, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I can just see what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding which situations would need to occur to bring him back to management, he confessed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “No longing for management; No desire to be in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to press conferences four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews each week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, however, dining out with the players talking freely, that’s nice. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere at the club. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, praising him for the adjustments that won the league in the previous season. Liverpool have lost a string of losses across various tournaments post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the notion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. An outstanding player. Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and its impact at the club. Jota lost his life in a car crash with his brother this past summer.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It goes beyond his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A devastating blow for his teammates as well. Not a single person might employ it as an excuse though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Handling this on a personal level is not easy. Overwhelming.”
