Three In Contention for Young Sports Personality Prize

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the upcoming Young Athlete of the Year award.

The trio have been recognised for their exceptional achievements over the past 12 months.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a unprecedented innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The shortlisted athletes were revealed during a live broadcast on a widely-listened-to radio show.

The champion will be announced during a live broadcast on the prestigious sports ceremony show on the 18th of December.

The ceremony will be televised from seven in the evening GMT.

The Football Star

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

These match-saving moments led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the top young European talent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for this award is incredible," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - aged 17 - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

And he wasn't finished there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, breaking the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a highlight for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and surged to prominence with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it motivates more girls to get into cricket."
