Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked Guard Soldiers to White House

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Devastating Shooting

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Reaction

Attendees gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to help others.”

Memorial details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Measures and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The incident prompted the government to suspend asylum applications and halt providing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi informed the program that she planned to speak to his relatives.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with excellence, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
